MARRIAGE LICENSE

Obtaining your Marriage License in Hawaii is a very easy process like 1, 2, 3

HAWAII WEDDINGS ARE RECOGNIZED THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE WORLD.

You apply for your Hawaii Marriage License online prior to your arrival.
Upon your arrival to Hawaii, you pick up the document from an authorized marriage license agent.
After the event, your officiant will file the legal documentation on your behalf.
The state will mail your marriage certificate document to the forwarding address you listed on the application within 4 to 6 weeks.

For couples outside of the United States, please verify your country's legal requirements and check to see if an apostille needed in addition to the Hawaii marriage certificate.

When physically obtaining the license, you both need to be present. Typically, the only legal documentation required is a government-issued photo ID, such as a driver's license or passport. If previously married, proof of original divorce decree or death certificate only needs to be presented if the divorce or death was finalized within 30 days of applying for a marriage license.

ALL COUPLES are responsible for applying and picking up the Marriage License.

Tips for obtaining your MARRIAGE LICENSE

1. You can apply for your marriage license online prior to your arrival or in person.

2. Upon your arrival to Hawaii, you pick up the Marriage License document from the

Hawaii State Department of Health at 1250 Punchbowl Street, Honolulu.

3. The Marriage License and Marriage certificates are two different documents. The Marriage License permits a marriage to take place. The Marriage Certificate indicates that a legal marriage has been performed. After the event the wedding officiant will file the Marriage License with the State of Hawai'i.

4. The state will mail your Marriage Certificate document to the forwarding address you listed on the application within 4 to 6 weeks.

5. When physically obtaining the license, you both need to be present. The only legal documentation required is a government-issued photo ID, such as a drivers license or passport. 6. You are required to pick up the license at the Hawaii State Department of Health located at 1250 Punchbowl St, Honolulu, HI 96813. The office is open from 8am-4:00 PM, Monday - Friday (closed state and federal holidays).
